Bagmati Gosaikunda Lake

The Gosaikunda Lake happens to be sacred place for the Hindus. The origin of this place is associated with the Samudra Manthan mentioned in Hindu scriptures. The Hindu mythology also associates this place with the abode of Lord Shiva and Gauri. Many people believe that the holy water of this lake can wash off their sins. Cool, right?

The Gosaikunda Lake, sometimes also spelled as Gosain Kunda is a freshwater lake located in Langtang National Park in Nepal. The lake remains frozen for six months in winter from October to June. This place happens to have spectacular mountain scenery which would make you go weak in the knees.

Thousands of people trek to this place every year since it adjoins the famous Langtang valley trek in the same area. This place combines the diversity of the view of the Himalayas and a thick vegetation cover making it a hotspot for trekkers. The Gosaikunda Lake has an abundance of wildlife, mesmerizing waterfalls and soothing hot water springs.
This Lake houses a wide variety of endangered species and if you are lucky enough you might be able to spot the shy Red Panda. What more can you ask for!
