About Budhanilkantha Temple

The Budhanilkantha or Budda Neelkanth Temple is famous for its marvelous stone carving apart from being a religious place for the Hindus which is blesses with the largest statue of Lord Vishnu. The deity of Vishnu lies on the Ananata Sesa( the immortal snake with numerous heads). The murti of Lord Vishnu is about 5 meters long and is lying in a 13m long tank, it seems as if he is floating with his legs crossed. The statue is covered in a golden cloth and marigold garlands. Only Hindu visitors are allowed near the statue of Lord Vishnu, foreigners can take delight in the auspicious environment created all over the temple.
