About Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary
Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary located in the northernmost part of Kerala and slopes of Western Ghats in areas of Aralam, Kelakam and Kottiyoor. Aralam Sanctuary is spread over 55 sq. KMs and is covered with tropical and semi evergreen forests.
This area is a great destination for trekkers, Ambalappara located at height of about 1500 m above sea level, is 25 km from Valayanchal. This 3 day trek is not easy and guides and other logistics can be arranged at Ambalappara Watch Tower.
Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is haven for wildlife enthusiasts and is home to various species of birds and animals such as leopard, boar, elephants, sambar, bison, deer and jungle cat. Tourists can do an overnight stay at the forest watchtower which provides ample opportunity seeing wildlife.
Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is 35 km from Thalasserry and 60 km from Kannur town.
