About Omkareshwara Temple

This temple can be found in Madikeri, Coorg. The story behind this place is that the king had a Brahmin killed for his personal political gain. The temple was then built to appease the spirit of the Brahmin. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and is one of the twelve revered Jyotirlinga shrines. It was built by Lingarajendra in 1820.
