About Ravana Falls
Ravana Falls is another tourist attraction located 7 kilometres from the town of Ella. Rainy season is the best time to visit the town and the surroundings. The dancing waters in the wet season resembles an areca flower but there might be no water at all in summers. So plan your vacation accordingly. The water falls that from a height of 82 originates in Wewatenna highland. It is reputed to be one of the widest falls in the country. The history of this place traces its roots back to the Lord Rama’s time. History has it that Ravana had hidden Sita in the caves over which the water falls. The stream of waters that cascades and ends in a pool is believed to be the place where Sita bathed. So this place is frequented not only by nature lovers but also by the devotees.
